• ABOUT ME

Welcome. Thank you for finding me. Reaching out to a therapist takes great courage. I am an attachment based, psychodynamic therapist with training in neuroscience, but am not "driven" by theory. One size does not fit all. I focus on the "whole" person, staying attuned to their specific needs. Life is tough and surviving the day is an accomplishment these days! I specialize in the treatment of trauma, chronic pain, anxiety/ depression, relationships and addictive behaviors. I received my bachelor's from Colby Sawyer College and a master's in psychology from Antioch University, New England. With over 23 years of experience I understand that healing and growth are highly individual.

Emotional and physical pain are the ultimate thieves. Pain creates stress and stress worsens the pain. This becomes a vicious cycle leading to "fight or flight" mode leaving us trapped and depleteted of energy, joy, and hope for the future. The good news is there is hope. We all possess an innate healing capacity. Pain levels decrease dramatically when the nervous sytem is relaxed. Tapping into a sense of joy is paramount to healing. Due to neuroplasticity, the brain can regenerate and create new pathways. Sometimes all we need is a safe place to let our guard down and be vulnerable. A place where we do not feel judged in order to release our pent up emotions and pain. It has been found that a sense of safety is the foundation for true healing. I foster a secure attachment and safe place for clients to heal at the core level. Moving beyond past, unconscious thoughts, conflicts, or negative patterns and relationships will lighten your load and allow you to rise above the pain. It is about going forward one small step at a time.

It was not until I recovered from a backbreaking horse fall years ago that I discovered this powerful healing capacity within myself. I was compelled to share my insights for overcoming pain and anxiety. We will collaborate to find the best approach for YOU. You are the ultimate expert on yourself. You know yourself and your needs better than anyone else. I will take your lead and help you reconnect to yourself and trust your instincts. I believe in a balance between insight and action. I have practiced long enough to not slot people into "boxes." Everyone's needs are different in therapy so I try to tune in with sensitivity. My love of horses, animals and art have shaped who I have become, allowing me a unique blend of ingredients to bring to the table. In the gallery below are paintings I did during my recovery to depict the healing power of creativity. Painting was instrumental in my overall recovery, but we all have different buried talents and gifts. It would be a priviledge and a pleasure to partner with you as you not only overcome pain, but rediscover your own talents, passions and joy along the way. Please feel free to reach to me by phone or email for a free consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
